Microbiology

(Microbiology is the study of all living organisms that are too small to be visible with the naked eye. This includes bacteria, archaea, viruses, fungi, prions, protozoa and algae, collectively known as ‘microbes’.)

Louise Carter

Louise joined SVS Labs in late 2017. She has worked in veterinary diagnostic laboratories for over a decade and previously worked for NZVP. Louise is a skilled microbiologist and mycologist but may be better known for her parasitology larval cultures.

Chris Murphy

Although new to veterinary microbiology, Chris has many years of experience in human microbiology. Before joining SVS Labs in 2016, Chris worked for Pathlab Hamilton. Chris loves learning the similarities and differences between human and animal pathogens. In her spare time, Chris is learning to play bridge and loves to spend time with her family (including four grandchildren), friends and her two cats Sharni and Pumba. She participates in touch rugby and netball leagues and follows the Waikato/Bay of Plenty Magic.
